Studying has never
been known to be pleasant, not even by the most intelligent students and
seems
to be one of the toughest tasks for most of coaching students.
It is not
uncommon for student to feel less than motivated all too often? Sometimes
students can feel really lazy and unmotivated. At
the time of examination many students (with poor preparation) have the urge to engage
in social media, play video games, read comics, watch television, hang out with
friends, clean their room, or do anything that keeps them away from preparing
for exams.
In this article, the author will share some practical
solutions for keeping them motivated and will also share success
mantra
for students to become successful in their career or to achieve
their goal.

1.
Make a Time Table: Time is money,
and as a student you should utilize your time very well. A timetable makes you the
master of your time.
Prepare a time table, stick to it  to complete your syllabus and follow it
regularly.

2.
SUPER-SMART Time
Management to Achieve Goal: Super-
SMART
time management remain very
important success mantra and coaching students can use this
method when setting up goals: SMART Means: Specific, Measurable, Achievable,
Relevant and Time-bound goals. For coaching students, the Prefix
Super
means, you have to supervise (review) it periodically to
fine-tune it and customize for your success.
S-Specific: As coaching students your goals should
be very specific (for example AIIMS or IIT, etc, Among Top 10/Top 20  Rank) and you should be able to know what you
want to accomplish. At this stage, as a goal set a rank (for example top 10 or
top 20) which you would like to achieve. What is your purpose to achieve such a
rank, it may be that you want to get some branch at some prestigious institute
(for example AIIMS or IIT)  or that it is
prestigious to achieve such a rank or anything that you think will motivate you
enough. Identify requirements and constraints to achieve your goal. The
requirements may be that you will have to study, for example 10 hours a day or
constraints like you have a school to attend and you have to devote 8 hours a
day in the school.
M-Measurable: By knowing what rank you want to
achieve, you would not be able to quantify your goals. From previous years’
papers and statistics be aware of the marks and board percentage required for
you to achieve the desired rank. In every exam you appear from now on, try to
achieve the required marks and if easily achievable set a bit higher target.
A- Attainable: For coaching students, the goals
should be attainable and realistic. If you set goals that are out of your reach
or below your standard performance, they would never help you. It may be the
case that you will have to stretch a bit but that should be realistic. In this
step decide how are you going to achieve the goal, suppose that if you desire
to get among top 10 and your current marks in your exams show that at this
stage you are not at par with it and also you are not ready to put in the
amount of efforts required, then you won’t be able to achieve it. Such unrealistic
goal setting will lead you no where other than disappointment. Instead, be
realistic and truthful to yourself.
R-Relevant: For coaching students, a goal that
supports or is in alignment with other goals would be considered a relevant
goal. For example, your other goal is to become a good musician and a AIIMS rank
holder, but with the constraints you have, you won’t be able to achieve both
the goals, then the set goal is not relevant. Think clearly and decide and
choose one of the goals or decrease the level of one of your goal.
T-Time-bound: For coaching students, achieving a desirable
rank is a long term goal. But to realize your progress, you will have to set
short-term goals. Set your goals daily and prepare a timetable for yourself the
previous day and stick to it. Spending half an hour on this on the previous day
would not be a waste. With this try to analyze did you achieve what you desired
as this would help you to prepare your timetable.

3.
Health is Wealth: Keep Yourself Healthy and
Energetic:
To achieve
success in examination, it is very crucial to remain healthy, happy, and
energetic and stay motivated to achieve your goal.  Paying attention on these tips will be
helpful to keep yourself away from depression and other negative thoughts. As a
doctor, the author would like to suggest few tips to for students to keep
healthy and happy.
-Regular Exercise: Exercise increases blood
circulation to brain and help to increase the memory. Keeping your body
healthy and in shape is important. Walk to your classes, take a class that
involves physical fitness or check out the student facilities your campus
offers for students to utilize.
-Eat Right, Avoid Fast food: Try to follow
some simple principles like: always eat breakfast, never skip meals and snack
regularly to avoid hunger. Balance your meals by ensuring you have the proper
amounts of seasonal fruits, green vegetables, whole grains, dairy and proteins
while leaving sugary and fatty foods by the wayside. Avoid junk food and fast
food.
-Get Sound Sleep: It can be difficult to
ensure you’re getting enough sleep when as a coaching student, you’ve got a
huge load of class work, piled on top of all your other commitments or when
your friends are studying all night. But getting enough (and sound) sleep can
really improve your overall health and wellness. For coaching students, experts
recommend six to seven hours sound sleep. In addition, try to stick to a sleep
schedule so that you can stay well-rested throughout the day. So stay asleep,
turn off the lights and all of your electronic devices (smart phone). Also, try
not to eat or drink caffeinated beverages near bedtime.
-Minimize Caffeine and Sugary Drinks: Foods
that are high in protein and fiber are way better for the coaching students in
the long run since caffeinated and sugary drinks seems like a great choice for
studying until you crash later on.
-Drink Lots of Water: Staying hydrated will
give students more energy throughout the day, reinvigorates your body, stops
you from overeating and aids in concentration. It also helps prevent those
pesky headaches so fill up your water bottle daily. Remember to reuse a
refillable bottle rather than wasting plastic, which is bad for the
environment!
-Relax, Relax, Relax:  It’s all too easy to get stressed but
being overly stressed can cause a variety of  health issues including depression that can
lead unfortunately to suicide in extreme situation.  Relaxation after hard work remains one of the
important success mantra for coaching students. Make sure to give yourself
plenty of breaks, maintain a healthy routine on a daily basis and always have
time to do activities that are low-stress like hobbies, going out with friends
and exercising.

4.
Motivate Yourself Everyday Similar to You Brush Your
Teeth Everyday:
Like we take bath every day or
brush our teeth every day, for coaching students it is important to stay
motivated every day to achieve your goal and success in life. You can read a
chapter of motivational book or read famous motivational quote from internet. The
students can also read some of the motivational book specially designed for
competitive examination. These are: The topper prepares, by Saoum Paul, The
secret of my success, by Nithin Jain, Psychology of success in IIT JEE, The
story of Anand Kumar and super 30, It all adds up, the story of V K Bansal and
Bansal classes, by Sachin Jha.

5.
Take A Regular Break: Relax and Reward Yourself
Once you have
completed your study, take a break and relax yourself by a short walk in park,
eat ice cream to reward yourself.
Aspiring students strive hard to excel and stay on the
top by putting in countless hours of studies, which include endless studying and
revision sessions. Their complete engrossment in this race results in marathon
study sessions devoid of any breaks or intermissions. Studies show that a
student who studies for an hour and takes a ten minute break at the end of the
session retains more of what is learned throughout the session, than a student
who continues studying without taking a break. Taking breaks while studying
contributes to better learning in a number of ways, and creates a major impact
on the process of learning.
Things coaching students can do in a break:
Listen to your favorite music;  Read the
newspaper or a book, leaf through a magazine, Take a walk, Talk to someone, Meditate
to relax and to improve your concentration, Engage your mind with a mental
exercise, Indulge in a light snack or drink, Take a power nap, Play your
favorite instrument, etc.

6.      Don’t Fear Failure
& Never Give up:
 For coaching
students, any  competitive exam is an
examination of patience, perseverance and persistence. As student, you really
need to work hard and put your best. At times you might feel defeated and might
want to give up. Instead redefine it as feedback and as a natural part of a
successful life. As world famous basketball player Michael Jordan said: “I’ve
missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games;  26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game
winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life.
And that is why I succeed.” Also, try to find the valuable lesson(s) in each of
your failures. As student, ask yourself: What can I learn from this?
7.      Motivational Mantra
for Coaching Student:

Last
but not the least coaching students should stay motivated, energetic  till the examination day to do their best in
the examination- don't get bogged down by study pressure, many students are very
talented, but it is important how you perform on the examination day. As a
coaching student, you have to prepare well for one to 2 years; you must learn
to cope with the pressure/stress of examination. To be successful in
examination, the first and foremost is believing in
yourself. If you believe you can and you’re halfway there. You have to expect
things of yourself before you can do them. It always seems impossible until
it’s done. Don’t let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.  It
is important to take practice tests periodically and do rehearsal and
recall of study material. This technique helps information to be moved from
short term memory into long term memory storage.
All coaching students should remind themselves
that this 'mental stress' during the exam is momentary. Focus on the good
things to come, after your examinations. This will motivate you to accelerate
your study mode, knowing that better things like fun and enjoyment are yet to
come.
