A Tribute to Dr. Chandappa S. Reshmi World-renowned eye surgeon, Dr. Chandappa S. Reshmi passed away on Saturday 12th August 2023 in Kalburgi (Gulbarga) at his home district at the age of 90. An alumnus of Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, Dr. Reshmi was a highly acclaimed eye surgeon who performed cataract-IOL surgery of the great Shri JRD Tata and former Prime Minister of India Late Shri P. V. Narasimha Rao. He was acclaimed as Pioneer in “Intra-Ocular Lens Implant Surgery”. He trained thousands of ophthalmic surgeons in India and worldwide. Since 1988, 'C. S. Reshmi Award’ is given to the best video film screened and selected at the film festival during the Annual Conference of the All India Ophthalmological Society (AIOS). We have the opportunity to meet him several times during the international ophthalmic conferences.
