I was fortunate to be a part of this sacred mission and had the opportunity to examine and treat eye patients at Netra Mahakumbh. While devotees took a holy dip in the sacred rivers, a dedicated team of ophthalmologists worked tirelessly to bring the gift of sight to thousands who had been suffering from eye ailments for years. Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also praised this remarkable initiative, where over 200,000 patients received free consultations, more than 150,000 were provided with free medicines and spectacles, and over 16,000 cataract surgeries were performed at free of cost at Chitrakoot. This was not just a medical camp but a profound act of humanitarian service. Imagine if every Mahakumbh hosted such large-scale eye health camps—millions of people could be screened, thousands could regain their vision, and awareness about eye health and eye donation could spread nationwide.
