Mentors' Blessings & the Trust of Senior Doctors for Their Own Eye Surgeries I consider myself incredibly fortunate to have been guided by my mentors and senior doctors since the beginning of my medical journey in 1986. When I started pursuing MBBS at NSCB Medical College, Jabalpur, I was clueless about medical subjects like anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry. But my seniors stepped in, took me under their wings, and showed me the way forward. Later, while pursuing my residency in ophthalmology at PGIMER, Chandigarh, and during my training abroad, my seniors and mentors taught me medical skills with patience, holding my hand every step of the way. Their guidance and blessings have been instrumental in shaping me into the ophthalmologist I am today. It is truly humbling when respected senior doctors and medical professionals place their complete trust in me for their own eye surgeries, especially cataract surgery with premium intraocular lens implantation. Such moments are a testament to the invaluable teachings of my mentors, who instilled in me the precision, knowledge, and care needed for this craft. Every such special case reminds me of the importance of meticulous eye examinations, including retinal checks and precise optical biometry. Counseling these patients about their options and setting clear expectations for visual outcomes are equally critical, especially when the patient is a fellow doctor or a member of their family. Their trust is sacred, and it compels me to pay utmost attention to every detail, ensuring that I deliver the best possible care and outcomes. I feel deeply blessed and grateful to all my mentors and seniors, whose faith and teachings have guided me on this journey. It is a privilege and honor to serve those who have served so many. I have also shared this most valuable experience and humble journey in my book "Diary of An Eye Surgeon". With heartfelt gratitude to all my teachers and mentors. ๐Ÿ™ Dr. Suresh K.
